Remington Park ThoroEnduro Challenge Rules
2013 REMINGTON PARK THOROENDURO
Thoroughbred Season Online Handicapping Contest
Remington Park offers visitors to remingtonpark.com the chance to participate in The Remington Park ThoroEnduro (THOROENDURO) during the 2013 Thoroughbred Season at Remington Park.
THOROENDURO is a FREE online contest and will run from Saturday, August 24 thru Sunday, December 15 for a total of 62 racing dates.
Participants are required to register and provide a working email address as well as a their complete name, resident mailing address and contact phone number, once doing so they can logon to THOROENDURO and select one entry only in each of the three game races selected by THOROENDURO administrator for each racing contest date of the Remington Park Thoroughbred Season, while eligible. Past performances for each challenge race are available on the game page. Participants are credited with a "virtual" $2 win (1st ), place (2nd ), and show (3rd ) or "across the board" wager on each of their selections. The total pari-mutuel payouts according to Remington Park official race results will be accrued to the participant's "virtual" bankroll.
EXAMPLE: if your selection in THOROENDURO RACE 1 finishes 2nd, paying $5.60 to place and $3.10 to show, your selection in THOROENDURO RACE 2 does not finish first, second, or third (off the board), your selection in THOROENDURO RACE 3 finishes 3rd and pays $3.20 to show, your “virtual” bankroll will be credited or increased by $11.90 ($5.60, $3.10 and $3.20).
Participants survive THOROENDURO until such day that none of their selections finishes in the top four of their respective race. Participants can remain in THOROENDURO by having at least one of their selections finishing 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th in their respective race. However, they will get no "virtual bankroll” credit for a 4th-place finisher, but that will allow them to stay ‘alive’ in THOROENDURO. Only selections that finish in 1st, 2nd or 3rd position will receive "virtual bankroll” credit based on the official pari-mutuel payoffs for that selection’s respective race. Please note: There is no maximum cap placed on the win, place and show payoffs.
If a contestant fails to have any of their selections finish in the top 4 positions of any game race on a THOROENDURO contest date, then they will lose one Eligibility Life. This may force the contestant to go “In the Barn” for a period of time before being allowed back “In the Race” of THOROENDURO.
The LUCKY HORSESHOE acts as a free pass that allows players to survive in THOROENDURO if they do not enter selections for a race day or if all three of their race selections fail to finish in the top four positions of their respective race.
Contestants registering to play THOROENDURO prior to the first date of the racing game on Saturday, Aug. 24 will have a total of ‘3 Protections’ to help protect them from falling out of the race and being placed “In the Barn” for a certain period of time. Those registering prior to racing on Aug. 24 will have ‘1 Regular Life’ and ‘2 Lucky Horseshoes.’ The Lucky Horseshoes extend a contestants playing ability once they have lost their ‘1 Regular Life.’
Contestants can register and activate their playing status for THOROENDURO up until the start of racing on Sunday, Sept. 29. Those that register and activate after Aug. 24 and prior to Sunday, Sept. 29 will begin with a total of ‘2 Protections,’ having ‘1 Regular Life’ and ‘1 Lucky Horseshoe’ play extender.
After racing begins on Sunday, Sept. 29 at Remington Park, no new contestants will be allowed to register and play THOROENDURO for 2013.
New for 2013 in THOROENDURO, contestants that lose all of their eligibility (Lives and/or Lucky Horseshoes) may be forced to sit out a few days of THOROENDURO by going “In the Barn.” However, the contestant may not be completely eliminated from THOROENDURO. On certain dates throughout the Remington Park Thoroughbred Season, THOROENDURO contestants will be allowed back “In the Race.” Once playing status has been activated again, that contestant will only have “1 Regular Life” to continue play. Once they fail to make selections for a contest race date or if all of their selections fail to at least finish 4th in a respective race, they will lose that “1 Regular Life” and once again be placed “In the Barn” for a period of time.
All eligible contestants will receive “1 Bonus Lucky Horseshoe” on Friday, Oct. 18. This “1 Bonus Lucky Horseshoe” will be added to a contestant’s status, regardless of playing life or number of Lucky Horseshoes they hold at that date.
Those players that do not have to sit out any race days of THOROENDURO by going “In the Barn,” will continue to make their selections and build their ‘virtual bankroll’ and number of winners while others are sitting out waiting to get back “In the Race.” It will be very beneficial to never be forced out of THOROENDURO and be placed “In the Barn” for any period of time, to continue to build ‘virtual bankroll’ and selected winners for the entire contest.
THOROENDURO contestants that lose eligibility and are placed “In the Barn” will be let back “In the Race” on the following dates throughout the 2013 Remington Park Thoroughbred Season: Thursday, September 5; Wednesday, September 18; Wednesday, October 2; Wednesday, October 16; Wednesday, October 30 and Wednesday, November 13.
Once any contestant falls out after Nov. 13, they will go “In the Barn” permanently and will be eliminated from THOROENDURO, losing all eligibility for prize consideration at the end of the game. Contestants must have eligibility remaining after the final THOROENDURO race game date of Sunday, December 15 in order to be considered for prizes.
THOROENDURO participants do not have to make a selection in all three game races on a contest date. In the event of a late scratch of a participant's selection, the participant's selection is automatically transferred to the post-time (off-time) favorite for the respective race. If a participant selects a "coupled" entry, and one (or in the case of a three-horse entry, two) horse(s) is (are) scratched, the participant's choice is the remaining horse(s) in the originally selected entry. If all parts of a selected entry are scratched, the player receives the post-time favorite. If the post-time favorite is a "coupled" entry, the player receives the entire entry and will be credited with the pari-mutuel payout accordingly.
Participants who register for THOROENDURO in the timeframe leading up to the beginning of the game on Saturday, August 24 will begin THOROENDURO with “1 Regular Life” and “2 Lucky Horseshoes.”
Players that register and begin play when THOROENDURO starts on Saturday, August 24 will have an advantage over the late-arriving registrants/contestants/players, by having their “1 Regular Life” and their “2 Lucky Horseshoes” while they build their ‘virtual bankroll’ and number of correct winners. The late-arriving contestants will get no credit for wins or any ‘virtual bankroll’ on days they did not play THOROENDURO due to their late registration.
SURVIVING TO WIN PRIZES
Players must “survive” THOROENDURO through the end of the 2013 Thoroughbred Season at Remington Park (Sunday, December 15, 2013) in order to be eligible for prize consideration. If there are zero players to "survive" THOROENDURO, then prizes will be awarded based on the "virtual" bankroll of contestants at the time of their elimination. Check thoroenduro.com for complete updated standings. Eliminated participants will be notified by email.
THOROENDURO begins Saturday, August 24, 2013 and concludes when the last Remington Park live race is official on Sunday, December 15, 2013. THOROENDURO scoring is based on pari-mutuel information as supplied by the official Equibase Charts for Remington Park racing. Your race selections must be made no less than thirty (30) minutes prior to the start of the first race of a respective Remington Park racing program. Remember, you can change your selections at any time prior to thirty (30) minutes to first post.
In the event of a tie for the highest accumulated “virtual” pari-mutuel total (bankroll), the player selecting the most first-place finishers will be declared the winner. If there is still a tie for highest accumulated “virtual” bankroll after utilizing the tiebreaker, a random drawing will be held. This process will be used to decide all top prize finishers if need be.
Winners will be notified by email. GOOD LUCK in THOROENDURO in 2013!
THOROENDURO for the 2013 Thoroughbred Season at Remington Park will offer the following cash prizes, awarded to eligible contestants as follows: 1st Place-$5,000; 2nd Place-$1,000; 3rd Place-$750; 4th Place-$500; 5th Place-$200; 6th Place-$150; 7th Place-$100.
The THOROENDURO contestant accumulating the Most First-Place (Winners) finishers will receive a $500 cash prize. In the event more than one contestant has the same amount of Most First-Place (winners) finishers, then the tie-breaker for this prize will go to the contestant with the highest accumulated “virtual” bankroll. All Cash Prizes will be made in US Dollars.

Simply, it is a free space day for all THOROENDURO players and any ‘virtual bankroll’ or ‘winners’ selected in a race that did go off, will count.
If all THOROENDURO races have been contested, prior to any cancellation of Remington Park racing on a game date, then the results of the THOROENDURO races on date in question will stand.
